Welcome!
Hello and welcome to my page! I'm Laura (she/her) and I'm a qualified and registered person-centred psychotherapist. I often, but not exclusively, support individuals who have a desire to embrace life but feel trapped by their shyness. To find out more about me click here.
Perhaps you can relate to some of these things:
-
Being self-conscious in group settings
-
Feeling unable to share ideas/speak up but wishing you could
-
Processing difficult emotions alone
-
Easily embarrassed and fear attention
-
Feeling confident in your abilities but fear being noticed
By working together, you will feel able to embrace more areas of life and not feel like your shyness is causing you to miss out. We'll explore how you can challenge your shyness while building self-acceptance too. For more information on how therapy can support you, click here.
If you're not sure on whether you want to start therapy just yet, I have worked collaboratively with another psychotherapist to create The Shyness and Self-Esteem Series, take a look here. I have also created a free guide to download and an email list you can subscribe to which offers monthly insights and support.
I'm very proud to have featured in two issues of Happiful Magazine. In Issue 80, I contributed to an article around navigating finances in relationships. In issue 84, I provided insights around the experience of embarrassment and blushing. You can read both articles online, here!
Therapy at
Chestnut Cottage
St Neots, Cambridgeshire
Chestnut Cottage is a grade II listed, 17th century cottage situated in the heart of small village just outside St Neots. After a careful renovation in 2022, the cottage's sole purpose is a therapy space for my clients. Inside you will be greeted to cosy furnishings and a welcoming log-burning stove. Chestnut Cottage creates a warm, confidential and comforting environment for therapy. Please see the "Chestnut Cottage" page to look inside the therapy space.
The village has convenient transport links being close to the A1, St Neots train station and bus links. However, if you are unable to come to Chestnut Cottage in person, therapy can take place remotely via video call. Please see below for more information.

Contact Me
I offer a free 15-30 minute video/phone introductory session. If you'd like to schedule a session or want to know more information, please use the contact methods below.
It's not selfish to seek support, you’re not taking the slot from someone else, and you don’t need to be in crisis to have therapy. You deserve empathy and compassion. I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
Social Media
Contacting a therapist can feel like a daunting task and because of this it can be difficult to pick up the phone or send an email.
To help you feel more secure and safe, I've created an Instagram profile which will give you more of an idea of who I am as an individual and how I work as a therapist. It also has useful information such as my FAQs highlight. I invite you take a look!
